Who Thinks the Cybertruck Looks Ridiculous? (And Who Secretly Loves It)

When Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck, jaws dropped – but not necessarily in admiration. Some called it revolutionary. Others called it the world’s first stainless-steel doorstop. Either way, the design sparked one of the most divisive reactions in automotive history. So, who exactly thinks this futuristic wedge looks ridiculous…and who’s secretly obsessed with it?

The Young, the Bold, and the Meme-Lords

Younger adults – especially those under 35 – are the most forgiving of the Cybertruck’s unconventional look. In multiple surveys, about 40% to 45% of this group described it as “cool,” “bold,” or “straight out of a video game.” They grew up with Minecraft, Blade Runner, and angular console graphics, so a polygon on wheels doesn’t faze them. To them, the Cybertruck isn’t weird – it’s the future they were promised.

The Middle-Aged Majority: Torn Between Awe and "Ugh"

For the 35 to 54 crowd, reactions land squarely between “that’s hideous” and “I kind of want one.” Roughly 60% dislike the look but still admire the performance and innovation. They’re the ones muttering, “It’s ugly… but it hauls,” as they secretly run the numbers on a trade-in.

The Seasoned Skeptics

Among older adults, particularly those over 55, the Cybertruck’s appeal drops faster than a falcon-wing door in a parking garage. Over 75% of respondents in this age group called it “ridiculous,” “ugly,” or “not truck-like.” They like their trucks with curves, chrome, and about 40 years of design precedent – not something that looks like it was built from IKEA’s “Apocalypse” line.

Truck Owners vs. EV Fans: A Cultural Clash

Traditional truck owners? Mostly not fans. About 70% say they don’t like the look, and some refuse to call it a “real truck.” Non-truck drivers, however – especially tech enthusiasts – are much more open to its angular audacity. They see a stainless-steel conversation starter, not a farm tool.

The Gender Divide

Men are roughly split 60/40 against the design, with many conceding that it’s “weird but kind of awesome.” Women, on the other hand, are far less smitten — around 75% find the Cybertruck too harsh, intimidating, or just plain unattractive. Apparently, the “mad max geometry” aesthetic doesn’t spark joy for everyone.

Around the World in Stainless Steel

In Europe, the Cybertruck has been lovingly dubbed “a polygon on wheels.” Asia, however, is more receptive, particularly in Japan and China, where the design reads as futuristic rather than freakish. Down in Australia, opinions are split between “built like a tank” and “looks like a kangaroo’s nightmare.”

The Verdict

Yes – most people think the Cybertruck looks ridiculous. But some people love that about it. It’s unapologetically strange, meme-worthy, and polarizing – which is probably the point. For every person who sees a rolling refrigerator, there’s another who sees the future of design barreling down the highway.

As one Redditor famously put it:

“It looks ridiculous – and that’s exactly why I want one.”
